UFC Denver medical suspensions: Maycee Barber potentially out for 180 days

On the heels of an impressive Octagon debut, “The Future” may find herself sidelined longer than anticipated.

Maycee Barber extended her undefeated record to 6-0 with a second-round TKO victory over fellow UFC newcomer, Hannah Cifers. Barber made the most of her opportunity on a high-profile card– calling for a fight with Mackenzie Dern on another “big card.”

Time is valuable for Barber, who has a timer set on her phone– counting down the days, weeks, hours, minutes, and even seconds until she turns 23. Her goal is to capture the belt before turning 23, the age that Jon Jones won his first world title, so that she can become the new youngest UFC champion.

The Colorado State Boxing Commission released the finalized medical suspensions report to MMA Fighting on Wednesday. The report included six fighters, two of those being strawweights.

  • Hannah Cifers: suspended 60 days minimum
  • Maycee Barber: suspended 180 days; can be cleared by doctor earlier
