UFC 246: Maycee Barber is the biggest betting favorite on the entire card

UFC returns for its highly anticipated 246th pay-per-view event this Saturday in Las Vegas, headlined by a returning Conor McGregor taking on Cowboy Donald Cerrone.

Barber is the biggest betting favorite on the entire UFC 246 card.

Whilst McGregor is a betting favorite over Cerrone, he isn’t the biggest favorite on the card. That distinction belongs to Maycee Barber. The 21-year-old is currently a -1000 favorite to defeat Roxanne Modaferri on Saturday.

Barber (8-0-0) has won all three of her fights since signing with the UFC, all devastating TKO finishes. A victory over a former title challenger in Modafferi will be a big one for Barber and catapult her up the rankings, alongside the elite of the division. The likes of former ONE FC champ and UFC welterweight, Ben Askren, have already predicted Barber will be flyweight champion by the end of 2020.

The fast-rising star faces her most experienced opponent to date in Modafferi (23-16-0), a woman who has been competing as a professional since 2002 and owns victories over the likes of Antonina Shevchenko, Barb Honchak, Andrea Lee and Marloes Coenen.

UFC 246 takes place this Saturday January 18, 2020, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Fight fans, it seems the odds-makers believe Barber has this fight in the bag, but how do you see it going? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. This hype is funny. The TKOs Maycee got so far are impossible with Roxy. While the media is hyperventilating over Askren’s comments and her 3 TKOs (and her looks) behind the scenes Roxy has been private messaging Maycee to make absolutely sure she makes weight. Roxy’s luring her in. At weight I promise a rude surprise for team Maycee.

  2. …lest we forget Roxy has the experience, has the height and reach, has the better ground game, and comes from 135 while Maycee comes from 115.

    1. oh yeah? i didnj’t know roxy had the weight advantage. well, she was always a small 135er and could never hang with the big girls coming down from 145.
Roxy is aaaaallllwwwaaaays improving in a age-defying way, it’s a real feel good story. But Maycee has a youthful ability to put SLAMMING power into her punches, it could be too much for roxy’s defense.
or roxy pulls off some sneaky sub. then again, roxy isn’t that strong, and her injuries limit her range of motion and so she cant’ power through her opponents sub defenses.

      1. if you follow roxys social media you are probably aware of her dedication to strength training over the last year. she’s now over 9000. roxy held up against overweight sijara foodbanks to a decision so we know she can hang with heavy hitters. i think the oddsmakers are well off the mark here.

  3. There is an implicit bias towards Maycee because of her looks. Just look right here at WMMArankings; there are four stories about the fight and three of them are all about Maycee. The fight judges will be the same, as will the announcing of the fight itself. I wonder if the crazy betting odds favoring Maycee take that into account.

    1. That’s any good looking female in WMMA. They will get more coverage. This is not a new phenomenon ! With Maycee, the hype is more because of her predictions that she constantly puts in the world’s face about wanting to be the youngest champ and her still being undefeated. The looks help , but she’s not even one of the 5 best looking women , even in the UFC, so the hype is due to more than her looks.
