On Saturday night, one of the year’s best cards in UFC 228 went down in Dallas, Texas.
After a night of flashy finishes and bloody battles, four fighters were awarded a bonus of $50k for their work. Deservingly so, three of the four performance bonuses were awarded to female competitors.
Bantamweights Irene Aldana and Lucie Pudilova each pocketed an additional $50k for” Fight of the Night” honors. The pair engaged in an epic three-round war that saw Aldana emerge as the victor via split-decision.
Strawweight Jessica “Baté Estaca” Andrade claimed a “Performance of the Night” bonus for her first-round KO of fellow contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz. After Tatiana Suarez put on a dominant showcase versus Carla Esparza earlier in the night, this was exactly the performance Andrade needed to cement a title shot.
