TUF 23 winner Tatiana Suarez reflects on Saturday’s triumphant return to the cage

Saturday night at the UFC Fight Night 120 event, TUF 23 winner Tatiana Suarez made a triumphant return to the cage, dominating Viviane Pereira for the unanimous decision win.

Suarez (5-0) handed Pereira (now 13-1) her first career loss, whilst keeping her own undefeated record intact. The multiple time wrestling world champion was coming off a 16-month layoff, after submitting Amanda Cooper at the TUF 23 finale in July 2016.

Following the big victory, the 26-year-old took to her social media pages to issue her thank you messages as well as revealing that this particular victory meant a lot to her following a year of injuries. Take a look at her post below.

“We got the W last night! First of all I want to give a huge shoutout to my coaches and teammates for preparing me for this fight. I also want to thank my amazing family for being so supportive. Lastly, I want to thank my supporters/fans for being so kind and loyal. All of the kind messages I receive mean more to me than you think. This victory meant a lot to me. If you don’t know, I haven’t fought in 16 months due to an injury/surgery. It was just one more thing I have had to overcome on this journey of mine. But, I embrace obstacles because they allow me an opportunity to persevere and grow. I am so incredibly thankful to the UFC and Dana White for giving me the opportunity to fight on Veterans Day. I love our country!!! Big thanks to all the men and women who serve our country”
