Tonya Evinger replaces Megan Anderson against Cris Cyborg at UFC 214

Per reports of Megan Anderson withdrawing from her UFC 214 championship match against Cris Cyborg, current Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger will be filling in.

Evinger, (19-5, 1 NC) hasn’t lost a fight since 2011. She is currently on a ten-fight winning streak, with seven finishes including submissions and knockouts. The 36-year-old owns victories over the likes of Yana Kunitskaya, Irene Aldana, Cindy Dandois and many more, she has been competing in MMA as a professional since the year of 2006 and is largely considered a pioneer of the sport.

Cyborg (17-1, 1 NC) is the number-one ranked featherweight fighter in the world. Her sole career loss was in her professional debut back in 2015, tapping out to Erica Paes following a leglock. The Brazilian has looked extremely dominant since then, taking out the likes of Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen, Leslie Smith, Lina Lansberg and many more.

UFC 214 takes place on 29th July from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States. The event will be aired live on pay-per-view.

  1. And the joke continues. Hahaha hahaha hahaha. Cudos to Invicta FC and Tonya Evinger, but the UFC, just pathetic.

    1. Major credit to Invicta FC and Shannon Knapp– they just keep on trucking through no matter what. They are always getting their roster and main events and such plucked by the UFC. They continue to produce and provide a platform for talent.

      1. Yes, indeed, BIG UPS to Tonya Evinger for stepping up against Cristiane Cyborg Justino, and BIG UPS to Shannon Knapp, for going out with a limited budget, and finding women featherweight fighters, which the UFC is too lazy to do with their vast budget.
