After Torres’ submission victory over Juliana Lima at the TUF 25 finale in July, “The Tiny Tornado” made it known that she wanted to face Michelle Waterson in her next trip to the octagon. The pair was originally scheduled to fight at UFC 194, but a knee injury forced “The Karate Hottie” out of the bout.
Torres is currently ranked number five by the UFC and number six by WMMA Rankings. Waterson is ranked number six according to the UFC and number seven by WMMA Rankings.
With a victory over Waterson, Torres would extend her win streak to three. She faced her first and sole professional loss at the hands of Rose Namajunas in April of 2016 but bounced back with back-to-back wins over Bec Rawlings and Juliana Lima.
Waterson will be looking to get back in the win column with a victory over Torres. She faced her first UFC defeat by the aforementioned Rose Namajunas in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 24. Prior to that, she won back-to-back fights in the UFC with finishes of Angela Magana and Paige VanZant.
