A strawweight title fight between Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade has been added to the UFC 237 pay-per-view event on May 11.
Namajunas (8-3) will look to make the second defense of her strawweight title after capturing the belt with an epic first-round knockout over Joanna Jedrzejczyk in November 2017 and then winning the April 2018 rematch by way of a unanimous decision. Also known as the ‘Thug’, the 26-year-old owns UFC victories over the likes of Michelle Waterson, Tecia Torres, Paige VanZant and Angela Hill.
Andrade (19-6) is on a three-fight win streak which includes dominant decision wins over Claudia Gadelha and Tecia Torres, as well as a stunning first-round knockout of Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The 27-year-old feels she has made significant improvements to her game since unsuccessfully challenging Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the belt in May 2017 and now looks to prove it by taking out the woman who beat Jedrzejczyk twice.
UFC 237 takes place on May 11 2019 in Brazil. The main card featuring Namajunas vs. Andrade will be aired live on pay-per-view from 10pm EST.
