Earlier this month, Samad (4-1-0) made it known that she does not feel Blencowe is deserving of the shot. Blencowe responded by saying that Samad is trying to stay relevant by trashing other fighters.
Now, Samad has hit out at Blencowe’s latest comments and warns that “her time will come” and says one day the two will have to meet.
“I have nothing against Arlene, but one day we will have to fight. I’m not in a hurry, I just want to show that I have the conditions to be at the top of the division.” Samad told WMMA Rankings.
“Arlene said that she would only fight with an opponent who was on top. Unlike her, I fight with any opponent that Bellator provides me. I am prepared for any challenge, I understand that it would be really bad if the number-three ranked featherweight lost to someone who is ‘irrelevant’, but her time will come.” she continued.
Samad made her Bellator MMA debut in November 2015, losing her undefeated record to reigning champion Julia Budd via unanimous decision. Since then, life has been very busy for Samad, she has got married, moved to the USA and given birth to a child. The 29-year-old is now ready to make her return to the cage and work her way up to a rematch against Budd.
“My debut in Bellator was, without taking credit from my opponent Julia Budd, worse than I expected. My recovery after the weigh-in was not very good, and the debut distracting. After my pregnancy I didn’t stop and I’m evolving every day. I participate in competitions and I’m preparing my physique for the great return” Samad said.
