ROAD FC heavyweight & Gladiator Fight Team’s Veronika Futina wins first place at hand-to-hand championships

ROAD FC heavyweight Veronika Futina competed in the hand-to-hand championships this past weekend, winning first place.

Last week, Futina made headlines after launching a vicious verbal attack at fellow MMA heavyweight, Destanie Yarbrough. Futina referred to Yarbrough as a ‘pig’, as well as telling her “you are sh*t from the street, you have no upbringing”.

Futina, who fought Gabi Garcia at the ROAD FC 47 event in May 2018, is eyeing a return to MMA competition in 2020 and is one of the many fighters passionate about growing the women’s heavyweight division in MMA. In preparation for her return, Futina has been competing in and enjoying success in various other combat sports, with the latest being hand-to-hand fighting.

Take a look at videos and photos of Futina’s celebrations below:

    1. Because there are so few fighters fighting above 156. WMMARankings top 10 is below. Note the records of the fighters. Most are inexperienced. Personally, I think they should make anything 146 and over HW or open weight and wouldn’t mind them making it 136+.

      WELTERWEIGHT+ (156 lbs+)

      1 – Gabi Garcia (6-0, 1 NC)
      2 – Audrey Puello (3-0)
      3 – Kendra Wilczynski (2-0-1)
      4 – Sarah Petzold (2-2)
      5 – Kristine Ion-Rood (1-0)
      6 – Maura Tynanes (1-1)
      7 – Melanie Jaquerez (1-1-1)
      8 – Sofia Gerayhanova (0-1)
      9 – Barbara Nepomuceno (0-1)
      10 – Veronika Futina (0-1)

      1. Wow ! I didn’t realize this site had changed that up ! They used to show every weight class even if it had just 5 or 6 fighters: 170, 185, etc.
