Saturday at the Road FC 39 event, Yoshiko Hirano defeated Sun Yoo Cheon by way of a first-round armbar submission. The pair met at an openweight with Hirano weighing in as a middleweight at 183.2 pounds, whilst Cheon came in as a featherweight at 142.9 pounds. The two previously fought this past February, with Hirano picking up the first round knockout.
Hirano now improves her record to 2-0. The 23-year-old from Tokyo, Japan, is one of the most promising prospects to come out of the developing women’s middleweight division. Prior to competing in MMA, she was a professional wrestler but got banned from the sport due to an infamous incident in which she went off-script and begun beating her opponent down.
Meanwhile, Cheon is now 0-3-0 in professional mixed martial arts competition. She made her pro debut this past December losing out to Ramona Pascual by way of a knockout, before losing two straight to Hirano.
Road FC 39 took place from the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea. The event was aired live on YouTube and can be aired by clicking HERE.
