Tonight at the ‘RIZIN 2017 in Fukuoka’ event, Rena Kubota and Andy Nguyen will battle in what will be the organization’s first ever women’s main event. Another hugely anticipated fight on the card is a women’s welterweight fight which pits undefeated King Reina against training partner of Cris Cyborg, the 6-foot Crystal Stokes.
Ahead of the fight, Gabi Garcia, the number-one female heavyweight fighter in the world, spoke to WMMA Rankings and offered her predictions for both fights. Take a look at them below.
Super Atomweight Main Event: Rena Kubota VS Andy Nguyen
“Andy is a tough girl, it’s a big opportunity for her to main event. It will not be an easy fight for Rena because Andy is more aggressive and she really wants to win this. I don’t think Andy will feel any pressure leading into this fight, this is an advantage for her. I love Andy, she’s nice girl and deserve this opportunity. However, Rena for me is the best MMA fighter in Japan, she’s beautiful, very nice girl, and I love watching her fights. Keep your eye on this girl, Rena [Kubota] will take the win.”
Featured Welterweight Bout: King Reina VS Crystal Stokes
“King Reina VS Crystal Stokes is a good fight for Reina. She’s more aggressive, has much more MMA experience and will be fighting at home. It will be Stokes first MMA fight, I met her for the first time in 2016 during a jiu jitsu tournament, she’s strong, in shape, punches hard and has a beautiful life story. She trains with Cyborg, who is my best friend.”
