Report: UFC targeting Jessica Andrade vs. Jessica Eye flyweight fight for Oct. 17 Fight Night

An exciting flyweight matchup is reportedly in the works for a UFC Fight Night card in October.

First reported by Brett Okamoto, sources told ESPN on Thursday that the UFC is targeting a flyweight fight between former strawweight champ Jessica Andrade (20-8) and former flyweight title challenger Jessica Eye (15-8, 1 NC).

“Bate Estaca” currently rides a two-fight skid for the first time in her career. Andrade won the strawweight belt at UFC 237 by knocking out Rose Namajunas in 2019 but lost it to current champ Weili Zhang in her next bout. At UFC 251 in July, Andrade and Namajunas rematched– this time with Namajunas emerging victorious by split-decision.

“Evil” Eye challenged Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight belt at UFC 238 in 2019, but was defeated via second round KO. She bounced back from the loss with a decision win over Viviane Araujo at UFC 245. Eye has competed once in 2020– losing a decision to Cynthia Calvillo the UFC Vegas 2 main event.

    1. Wow ! Wonder if this is a permanent move for Andrade ! ? She must cut crazy weight to get to 115 even though she’s super-short. She should be come a legit contender at flyweight pretty quickly. Maycee might not get a title shot till quite a few people retire.
