The involved parties have yet to comment and the UFC has yet to confirm the news.
After a triumphant return to the Octagon in January 2019, VanZant (8-4) was sidelined due to a recurring arm injury. Open to fighting at strawweight or flyweight, PVZ was booked to face surging contender Amanda Ribas at 115-pounds in what would be the last fight in her UFC contract.
With PVZ’s reported injury, Randa “Quiet Storm” Markos (10-7-1) is stepping in as a replacement. Since entering the UFC in 2014, Markos has alternated wins and losses (and one draw). She last competed in October, defeating Ashley Yoder by split-decision.
Brazil’s Ribas (8-1) has been perfect in the Octagon thus far. She submitted Emily Whitmire in her UFC debut in June and followed that up with a dominant decision victory over Mackenzie Dern in October. She is currently ranked No. 15 in the WMMA Rankings World Rankings.
