Report: Cris Cyborg vs. Felicia Spencer targeted for UFC 240 in Edmonton

First reported by Brett Okamoto, Dana White has told ESPN that the UFC is close to finalizing a featherweight bout between Cris Cyborg and Felicia Spencer for UFC 240 on July 27 in Edmonton, Canada.

The bout is targeted as a non-title co-main event to a men’s featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar.

At UFC 232 in December, Cyborg (20-2, 1 NC) had a 20-fight unbeaten streak snapped when she lost to Amanda Nunes. Prior to that, Cyborg reigned over the featherweight division as Invicta FC and UFC featherweight champion.

Cyborg has been vocal about her desire for a rematch with Nunes, let alone another featherweight fight.

Spencer (7-0) is coming off arguably the biggest win of her career– a first round submission over Megan Anderson in her UFC debut at UFC Rochester. Prior to entering the UFC, the “Feenom” went 6-0 in Invicta, capturing the featherweight title in the process.
