First reported by Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Cris Cyborg will be challenging Julia Budd for the featherweight championship in her promotional debut on Jan. 25.
The bout has yet to be confirmed by Bellator but Julia Budd (13-2) versus Cris Cyborg (21-2, 1 NC) for Budd’s featherweight championship is likely to happen.
Following a three-year tenure in the UFC, Cris Cyborg signed with Bellator. At UFC 232, Cyborg lost to Amanda Nunes in what was the first loss on her MMA record since her 2005 debut. She bounced back with a victory over Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 and will now look to become the first female fighter to hold championships in three major promotions.
Budd currently rides an 11-fight winning streak. After defeating Marloes Coenen to capture the featherweight title, Budd has defended her “jewel” three times. The only two losses on her record came from Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey in 2011.
