Raquel Pennington has returned to MMA training following a much needed vacation and is very impressed with the progress that her fiancée, Tecia Torres, has been making as she prepares to fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk at the UFC on FOX 30 event on July 28.
Pennington (9-6) unsuccessfully challenged Amanda Nunes for the UFC bantamweight title this past April, finding herself victim of a fifth-round TKO in the main event of UFC 224. The 29-year-old has been taking some time off but recently returned to training and feels like Jedrzejczyk will be up against a “little monster” when she faces Torres.
“Back from vacation to a good night’s rest and back to work! Felt good to be back on the mats with these badasses. Tecia Torres looks like a little monster! Can’t wait for her fight!” Pennington wrote on her Instagram page.
The fight on July 28 is an important one for Tecia Torres. A victory over the former UFC strawweight champion could immediately put her into title contention, especially considering the fact the only other person to ever beat Jedrzejczyk is reigning 115-pound champ, Rose Namajunas.
UFC on FOX 30 takes place on July 28 from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The main card featuring Jedrzejczyk vs. Torres will be aired live on Fox Sports 1 from 8pm EST.
