Saturday night in Nashville, Tenn., Randa Markos returns to action to take on fellow TUF 20 alum Angela Hill. However, on media day, Markos revealed to MMA Junkie that Hill was not her proposed opponent.
Markos says she was originally slated to face BJJ ace Mackenzie Dern. Things changed though when Dern announced a few weeks back that she was pregnant.
Markos acknowledges that fighting Angela Hill requires a different gameplan than fighting Dern does.
“For a gameplan against Mackenzie, I was thinking about keeping the fight on the feet. Her takedowns are not that great. I had to make sure she didn’t take me down, and I feel like I have a stronger top game than her.”
“They gave me Angela Hill, and she doesn’t like to go to the ground. She’s very good at standing back up so it’s a very, very different gameplan.”
A matchup with Dern could come later down the line as Mackenzie has expressed her desire to be the first UFC champion who is a mom.
Who will you be rooting for Saturday night?
