Thursday night at the PFL 2019 1 event, Sarah Kaufman emerged victorious in a lightweight bout, defeating Morgan Frier via first-round submission (arm-triangle choke).
Kaufman improves her record to 21-14-0, making a successful 155-pound debut after fighting at 135-pounds for the majority of her professional MMA career. The 33-year-old is by far the most experienced competitor in PFL’s women’s lightweight division, having competed for both the UFC and Invicta FC, the latter in which she captured the bantamweight belt. She owns notable wins over the likes of Liz Carmouche, Miesha Tate, Leslie Smith and Roxanne Modafferi.
Frier drops to 4-2-0. The 28-year-old, also known as the ‘Mad Dog’, was on a four-fight win streak prior to tonight’s loss, all first-round stoppages.
PFL 2019 1 took place on Thursday 9th May from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseumin Long Island, New York, United States. The main card featuring Kaufman vs. Frier was aired live on ESPN from 9pm EST.
