PFL 2019 1 results: Roberta Samad defeats Moriel Charneski via unanimous decision

Thursday night at the PFL 2019 1 event, Roberta Samad emerged victorious in a lightweight bout, defeating Moriel Charneski via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Samad improves her record to 5-1-0, successfully making a return to competition after over three years away. The 31-year-old, also known as the ‘Crusher’, previously fought for Bellator MMA and notably faced off against Julia Budd. Three of Samad’s career victories come by way of first-round stoppages.

Charneski drops to 3-6-0 after losing by way of a first-round TKO to Kayla Harrison in her promotional debut last December. The 29-year-old, also known as ‘The Mo-Chine’, owns a notable 2017 win over Invicta FC’s Sarah Patterson.

PFL 2019 1 took place on Thursday 9th May from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseumin Long Island, New York, United States. The preliminary card featuring Samad vs. Charneski was aired live on ESPN+ from 6:30pm EST.

One comment

  1. Moriel Charneski is tough. She seems to be limited athletically in quickness compared to the two fighters she has faced in the PFL, Kayla Harrison and Roberta Samad. Hopefully, she finds a way to get a victory for herself this season in the PFL. Good to see Roberta Samad back in the MMA cage. I thought she was really going to make some noise in Bellator after her tough, grinding, decision loss to Julia Budd. Some good WMMA match ups to look forward to in the PFL this season.
