This Saturday an exciting women’s strawweight fight will go down when Pearl Gonzalez makes her return to the octagon to battle promotional newcomer Poliana Botelho, as part of the UFC 216 televised preliminary card.
Gonzalez (6-2) will be searching for her first UFC victory in just her second appearance. The 31-year-old made her debut for the organization in April, losing to undefeated Cynthia Calvillo by way of a third-round rear-naked choke. Despite the loss, she was certainly one of Calvillo’s toughest opponents to date and looks to showcase why she is one of the best in the world on Saturday. She has finished five of her six career victories, four submissions and one knockout.
Botelho (5-1) was originally scheduled to make her UFC debut against Valerie Letourneau last December, however she was forced to withdraw due to an injury. The 28-year-old is riding high on a three-fight win streak and has a 100% finish rate, finishing all her career victories by way of knockouts. Her sole career loss comes to fellow Brazilian UFC strawweight, the undefeated Viviane Pereira.
UFC 216 takes place this Saturday October 7th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The preliminary card featuring Gonzalez VS Botelho will be aired live on FX from 8pm EST.
