Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 124 main card is set to showcase a highly anticipated flyweight fight when Paige “12 Gauge” VanZant returns from an over 12-month layoff to battle Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark.
VanZant (7-3-0) will be making her flyweight debut, following a very dangerous weight-cut the last time she attempted to make 115-pounds. She is 4-2 with the UFC, having earned victories over Felice Herrig, Kailin Curran and Alex Chambers, as well as a stunning 2016 knockout of Bec Rawlings. The 23-year-old believes she has what it takes to be a world champion at 125-pounds and says she can show off more of her athletic ability when competing at this weight.
Clark (8-4-0) will be making her second UFC appearance following a split decision win over Bec Rawlings this past November. The 30-year-old has competed at bantamweight for the majority of her career, with her last bout being changed to a catchweight after she weighed in over the flyweight limit. She owns notable wins over Arlene Blencowe and Janay Harding.
UFC Fight Night 124 takes place this Sunday January 14 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The main card featuring VanZant vs. Clark will be aired live on Fox Sports 1 from 10pm ET.
