Naho Sugiyama and Mina Kurobe set to clash at Deep Jewels 15 for 105lb title

Top ten atomweights, Naho ‘Sugi Rock’ Sugiyama and Mina Kurobe are set to face off at Deep Jewels 15 for the 105lb title. The event is scheduled to take place at the Shinjuku Face in Japan on February 25th 2017. The pair previously fought each other back in November 2015 with Sugiyama coming out on top via unanimous decision.

Sugiyama (12-4-0) is the current champion and the number 4 ranked atomweight in the world according to the Women’s Pro MMA World Rankings. This will be her seventh fight for the promotion in which she is currently on a two fight winning streak with wins over Emi Tomimatsu and Kurobe when the pair fought the first time. Her four career losses come to top MMA talent including the number 1 ranked atomweight in the world and Invicta FC champion Ayaka Hamasaki as well as UFC strawweights Seo Hee Ham and Jessica Penne.

Kurobe (9-2-0) is currently the number 6 ranked atomweight in the world according to the Women’s Pro MMA World Rankings. She has been very active this year, competing four times for Deep Jewels, all of which have been victories including a round 1 TKO win over Renju Date back in June. She’ll be looking to keep her momentum going and avenge her loss against Sugiama, as well as picking up the 105lb belt.
