Molly McCann vs Gillian Robertson flyweight bout targeted for #UFCLiverpool

Per MMA Today, an exciting flyweight bout between “Meatball” Molly McCann and “Savage” Gillian Roberton is in the works for UFC Fight Night in Liverpool on May 27.

McCann (7-1) is one of the most highly touted prospects outside of the UFC. The United Kingdom native is unbeaten since 2015, knocking out Bryony Tyrell in her most recent appearance to capture the inaugural Cage Warriors flyweight championship.

Opposite McCann will be Canadian fighter and TUF 26 alum Robertson (4-2), who made a successful promotional debut in December by submitting Emily Whitmire in the first round. “Savage” trains alongside numerous top contenders and champions at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.

  1. Looking forward to McCann’s debut.

In the meantime, were you folks aware that Ayaka Hamasaki will be fighting Alyssa Garcia at next month’s RIZIN? Whatever happened to the rematch with Jinh Yu she promised over 18 months ago?

    1. We did just see that– going to make a post about that now, thanks for the reminder! I am not sure what happened to the rematch, I personally would love to see that now. Will keep an eye out for updates!

  2. You and me both. Although only semi-WMMA related, it was recently announced that Christian Lee will be challenging for ONE’s Featherweight title at the same event that Angela Lee is defending her title. It’s only WMMA related in that I believe this is the first time a brother and sister will be involved in title fights in the same event, and if Chis prevails, he will supplant Angela as the youngest title holder in a major organization in MMA history.
