Former UFC bantamweight champion and WMMA pioneer, Miesha Tate, is just as blown away as everyone else by Edmond’s recent Rousey vs. Cyborg comments.
In an original article from MMAFighting.com, Miesha Tate expressed her disgust with Ronda Rousey’s head coach, Edmond Tarverdyan’s, recent comments suggesting that Ronda return for one last fight against Cyborg.
While appearing on Sirius XM’s Rush MMA Tonight episode, referring to Cyborg’s “brushing off” of Edmond’s comments, Cupcake said, “I’m gonna give Cyborg a round of applause [claps] because she wouldn’t look any more like a bully than if she took that fight with Ronda.”
“That would be ridiculous. Like…it’s just nonsense to even think about. I can not believe that Edmond would even suggest so asinine.”
Miesha further elaborated, “Okay. With that being said, we’re all at different stages in our career and in life. Cyborg’s still fighting and I am not and I don’t believe Ronda will. She’s been very absent and what not and she doesn’t even want people asking about her MMA career.”
“I don’t see her coming back. I think she’s got a good deal with the WWE. (And) she’ll probably gonna want to start a family soon.”
Self-admittedly and well-documented, Miesha is not Ronda’s biggest fan. However, even Tate says she wouldn’t want to see Cyborg and Ronda fight.
“I think Edmond just wants another payday so he can try to pay off his bankruptcy issues, because Jiminy Christmas. Poor Ronda. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t even want to see that fight. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t want to see her get slaughtered by Cyborg at this point in her career, either. It’s not appealing. That’s not what this sport is about. It’s about great competitive matchups and I just don’t feel like it’s even fair to ask for something like that. If you were looking out for your athlete, why would you do that?”
Miesha Tate has spoken! Fight fans— is this match something that could happen or is Edmond just blowing smoke?
