Michelle Waterson wants first crack at new UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade

‘The Karate Hottie’ believes she could be getting the first shot at the new UFC strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade.

Waterson (17-6-0) is currently on an impressive three-fight win streak and believes she’s ready to claim her first UFC championship. The 33-year-old, who was in attendance at this past Saturday’s UFC 237 event, spoke about Andrade’s victory in a post-fight interview.

Main event brought the heat. I thought Rose was doing amazing, Andrade showed tons of heart, came back, did that frickin Andrade slam I was talking about and took it home. I’m glad Rose is okay. Congratulations Andrade, hopefully it’s me and you next.” Waterson said.

Waterson has her sights set on Jessica Andrade’s strawweight title.

The JacksonWink MMA standout trains alongside the likes of Jon Jones and Holly Holm. Since arriving at the UFC, she’s picked up promotional wins over the likes of Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Felice Herrig, Paige VanZant and Cortney Casey. Prior to signing with the UFC, Waterson had held the Invicta FC atomweight title.

Fight fans, would you like to see Michelle Waterson challenge Jessica Andrade for the UFC strawweight belt? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. Love that sexy photo of the Hottie! But she’s not ready yet for Jessica – needs to beat either Joanna or Rose first.

    1. I love both her and Joanna so that would be a tough fight for me to watch, lol! That is a solid fight as I think they both need at least one more win before challenging for the title.

  2. If she beats the winner of Claudia vs randa or loser of Nina and Tatiana. Other than that Zhang or esparza.

    1. Those are good fights. I know she is friendly with Claudia and Zhang, so I think they would try to fight someone else before one of those two. I think her vs. Esparza on the same card as the Suarez/Ansaroff winner vs Andrade is the way to go.

  3. Nope, nope, NOPE. I’d even expect some fan pushback if the UFC looked to be going this way with things, as there’s no discernible group of people that are genuinely in favour of this idea/campaign/whatever that I’ve seen or heard of…

    1. Exactly. I’ve tried to understand her reasoning in other articles I’ve seen for why she feels she deserves a title shot, and it just makes no sense, other than she thinks being in the UFC for a long time and having a good recent streak is enough. She’s completely ignoring the level of competition she’s been fighting and beating compared to others that are ranked higher. The Karolina win was her first over someone who used to be in the top 7 or so but no longer is.

      1. I am a huge Karate Hottie fan, however, I do believe that Ansaroff/Suarez winner should get the first crack at Andrade! I do think Michelle is in the mix and one more win could cement her bid.
