This Saturday’s UFC 229 event features a highly-anticipated strawweight bout on the pay-per-view main card when Michelle Waterson takes on Felice Herrig.
Waterson (15-6-0) returns after successfully snapping a two-fight losing skid with a win over Cortney Casey at the UFC on FOX 29 event this past April. The 32-year-old was a dominant force in Invicta FC prior to signing with the UFC and held the organization’s atomweight title after defeating Jessica Penne at the Invicta FC 5 event in 2013. Since coming to the UFC, ‘The Karate Hottie’ is 3-2 with addional promotional wins over Paige VanZant and Angela Magana and losses to Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres. Waterson is currently ranked number-eight in the UFC rankings and number-nine in the WMMA World Rankings.
Herrig (14-7-0) saw an end to her impressive four-fight win streak in her last showing after losing a split decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The 34-year-old has had an extremely impressive overall run with the organization and has defeated the likes of Cortney Casey, Justine Kish, Alexa Grasso and Kailin Curran. ‘The Lil Bulldog’ is currently ranked number-nine in the UFC strawweight rankings and number-ten in the WMMA World Rankings.
UFC 229 takes place this Saturday October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The main card featuring Waterson vs. Herrig will be aired live on pay-per-view from 10pm EST.
