An exciting strawweight showdown has been added to UFC 229 in Las Vegas on October 6th.
“The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson will face Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig in an important 115-pound clash of top ten contenders.
Waterson bounced back from the first two-fight skid of her career, losses to Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres, in April by picking up a split-decision win over Cortney Casey. The former Invicta FC atomweight champion and fan favorite fighter has found herself a staple in the promotion’s top ten since debuting in 2015.
After losing to Paige VanZant in 2015, Herrig took a year off from competition. She returned in 2016 with a vengeance, putting together a four-fight win streak that propelled her back into the top ten. Her streak was snapped in April when she ran into Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 223.
Herrig has expressed her desire to face Waterson for a long time– they have a history dating back to a reality television program called “Fight Girls” in 2006. The two will finally get the opportunity to square up in the Octagon on 2018’s most anticipated cards.
