Maura Tynanes vs. Holli Salazar, welterweight bout | This Wednesday at AFC 136 | 11:59pm ET, LIVE on UFC FIGHT PASS

This Wednesday’s AFC 136 event will feature an exciting women’s welterweight fight between Maura Tynanes and Holli “Kill Shot” Salazar.

Maura Tynanes is looking to put the women’s welterweight division on the map.

Tynanes (1-0) trains at the Jesus is Lord gym in Hawaii, along with UFC star, Rachael Ostovich. She made her professional debut this past March for the AFC, choking out Avril Straub in the very first round. Prior to making the move to MMA, Tynanes, who was undefeated as an amateur, already had a background in combat sports, being a former collegiate/freestyle wrestler who placed second at nationals during her first year in college, she is also a black belt division naga championship winner.

Salazar (0-0) will be making her professional debut following a successful amateur run in which she’s coming off an impressive 40-second submission win over Camee Adams. Salazar fights out of Colorado and currently trains at the Golden Fights Cage Wars MMA Gym.

Wednesday’s fight is a very important one for the developing women’s welterweight weight-class. Both fighters believe they will be the woman to put the division on the map.

Over the past few years, the heavier female divisions contested at lightweight and above have gained significant attention thanks to the success of women including King ReinaJozette CottonGabi GarciaDestanie Yarbrough and Cindy Dandois.
