Maura Tynanes is furious with Heather Martin: “I feel disrespected”

Maura Tynanes was scheduled to fight for the inaugural Trinity Sport Combat women’s welterweight title this past Saturday, however the fight was cancelled just before the weigh-ins due to her opponent, Heather Martin, announcing she had sustained an injury whilst cutting weight.

Tynanes (1-1) is furious with Martin. She feels “disrespected” and believes Martin wasn’t even close to fight weight and should have stepped on the scales to prove it. The Hawaiian didn’t hold back in a post on Instagram, take a look below.

If your a PROFESSIONAL fighter, Come to fight! Ok you got hurt “cutting weight” things happen and aren’t always in our control, But at least weigh in! I like to think the best of people, but when my opponent comes to weigh-ins to apologize to me for pulling out of our fight, But never ONCE came up to me, or spoke a word, than Left right when the weigh ins started…. 🤔😒 It’s so confusing to me. YOUR SORRY? you got hurt cutting weight? Prove it, let’s see your weight. Cuz there’s NO WAY your even close to fight weight. I feel Disrespected! My opponent has Disrespected me, my team, my coaches, my family, my friends, my fans and this event. Fighters get hurt all the time, injures happen, but we all have control of our actions and how we carry ourself. I’m fight ready TODAY, TOMORROW, EVERYDAY!! on to the next 💁🏻💁🏻💁🏻👊👊👊💪 sorry to all my family and friends that flew in to watch me fight tonight, everyone that bought tickets to watch me fight for the Belt. I appreciate you all so much! I will still be at the event tonight supporting my Teammates and other local athletes!! Hope to see you all there 🤗🙌😘 #underWeight #professional #wmma #mma #mainEvent

Tynanes was looking to rebound from a second-round TKO loss to Holli Salazar. She feels as though she has learnt from the loss and was keen to get back in the cage and prove to the world why she is the best welterweight fighter in the world, starting with her attempt to win the world title. She made her professional debut last year, submitting Avril Straub in the first round. Prior to making the move to MMA, Tynanes, who was undefeated as an amateur, already had a background in combat sports, being a former collegiate/freestyle wrestler who placed second at nationals during her first year in college, she is also a black belt division naga championship winner. She trains at the Jesus is Lord gym in Hawaii, along with UFC star, Rachael Ostovich.
