This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 125 early preliminary card is set to feature an exciting women’s strawweight fight between top prospects Maia Stevenson and Polyana Viana. Both women will be making their UFC debuts and look to make an immediate statement in the 115-pound division.
Stevenson (6-4-0) was a member of last year’s The Ultimate Fighter 26, coached by Justin Gaethje in a bid to become the inaugural UFC flyweight champion. Unfortunately, Stevenson lost out to Sijara Eubanks in the opening rounds after finding herself victim of a second-round submission. The 35-year-old feels as though she was undersized on the show and believes strawweight is her true weight class. She is currently on an impressive fight-fight win streak in professional MMA competition, four of which were first-round stoppages.
Viana (9-1-0) will be making her promotional debut following a five-fight win streak of her own, a combination of knockouts, armbars and rear-naked chokes. The 26-year-old Brazilian trains out of the Tata Fight Team along with many established UFC stars including Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira and Thiago Santos.
UFC Fight Night 125 takes place this Saturday February 3 from the Mangueirinho Gymnasium in Belem, Para, Brazil. The early preliminary card featuring Stevenson vs. Viana will be aired live on UFC FIGHT PASS from 7pm EST.
