This Friday 13 October at Legacy Fighting Alliance 24, an exciting women’s flyweight showcase will go down when Mackenzie Dern takes on Mandy Polk. The winner of the fight could put themselves in line for a shot at the UFC’s new 125-pound division.
Dern (3-0) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and world-champion MMA grappler. She made a highly publicized professional MMA debut in 2016 as part of the strawweight division. The 24-year-old is undefeated with a 3-0 record, but in her last two fights she has failed to make weight, hence the move up to 125-pounds. She scored a decision victory over Katherine Roy in her most recent bout. The Arizona native feels as though she is ready to compete for the UFC and is confident in her abilities to become a champion in the organization.
Polk (3-3) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt and IFBB professional fitness competitor. The 32-year-old made her professional MMA debut in 2014. The high-school wrestling coach was on a three-fight winning streak before a December loss to Bellator MMA star Katy Collins. She now looks to rebound and make a huge statement to the MMA world by taking out one of the flyweight division’s most highly touted prospects.
Legacy Fighting Alliance 24, also known as “LFA 24: Frincu vs. Millender”, takes place on Friday 13 October from the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The event will air live on AXS TV from 9:00pm EST.
