Liz Carmouche vs. Roxanne Modafferi set for ESPN 4 in July

Fresh off her upset win against Antonina Shevchenko, MMA pioneer Roxanne Modafferi will have her hands full with a UFC Bantamweight pioneer.

The “Happy Warrior,” so nicknamed for her constant smile and effervescent personality, will be fighting Liz Carmouche, who fought in the very first UFC Women’s fight against Ronda Rousey.

Modafferi (23-15) lost in The Ultimate Fighter Flyweight Championship match against Nicco Montano, but is 2-1 since, winning against Antonina Shevchenko and Barb Honchak, and losing against Sijara Eubanks.

The former US Marine Carmouche (13-6) is on a two-fight winning streak in the flyweight division with wins against Jennifer Maia and Lucie Pudilova.

The fight is scheduled to take place on the UFC on ESPN 4 card on July 19 in San Antonio, TX.

Who do you think wins this contest? “The Happy Warrior” or “Girl-Rilla?”

  1. Liz nearly beat Ronda Rousey in the inaugural UFC women’s bantamweight and she beat current straw-weight champ Jessica Andrade. She’s a dangerous fighter and I pick her to win. I admit that I have a tendency to underestimate Roxanne because of her nerdy grin.

  2. roxy will take it. her striking and strength have greatly improved, she’s inexhaustable, and her ground game is a major threat.

    1. I don’t know. Carmouche is physically very strong for a flyweight and also talented on the ground. Hopefully, Roxy wins, but I don’t know.
