LFA Flyweight Champion Sabina Mazo has suffered the bane of every MMA fighter – a last minute cancellation that is forcing her off the fight card.
The “Colombian Queen” (5-0) was supposed to defend her title against Jaimee Nievera, but Nievera (7-4) suffered an injury this week and withdrew. With no other opponent available, Mazo has been pulled, and the co-main has been elevated to the main event.
Mazo, who has drawn lots of attention for getting multiple head-kick knockouts, posted the following on her Instagram account:
My opponent unfortunately got injured in fight week. @lfafighting did an amazing job to try to find opponent but with such short notice, they couldn’t find. I am more than ready but things don’t change I just keep working for the next one! IM GRATEFUL with everyone that supported me and that helped me. Thanks for my sponsors and for my team and family. My family @kings_mma is always there in the good and the great times, and I appreciate that with my heart. My nutritionist @emerson.mma for the hard work and for putting me on great shape and taking care of my food every single day. My conditioning and shape is on point and that is because my amazing coach @da_rulk for my coach from Colombia @muaythaimedellinoficial for support and knowledge and for everyone else I don’t have words to show my appreciation.
