Leslie Smith to Lina Lansberg: “You want to fight me? Let’s make it happen”

UFC bantamweight Leslie Smith is eyeing a return to the octagon and she even has an opponent in mind, she wants Lina Lansberg.

Smith (9-7-1) took to her social media pages to make the call-out.

What’s up Lina Lansberg, you got a lot of likes for saying you want to fight me, you still feel that way? Time to make it happen!

Lansberg (7-2-0) was offered a fight against Smith late last year but declined as she was still healing up from her previous fight.

I really want to fight you Leslie Smith. But I’m not fully healed yet so December 17th was just to soon. Let’s do it late January. It’s a great fight.

Smith was the first woman to face Cris Cyborg in the UFC.

Both women have something common as they were Cris Cyborg’s first two opponents in the UFC.

Smith, also known as “The Peacemaker”, fought Cyborg back in May of last year, losing via first round TKO. Many fans felt the fight wasn’t ready to be stopped. Smith is known to be durable, and likes to be part of wars. Smith herself was displeased – immediately taking to social media revealing she’s not happy with referee Eduardo Herdy’s stoppage and wants a more “legit ref” if the two were to fight again, she suggested Herb Dean.

The 34-year-old returned to competition this past December, defeating highly touted newcomer Irene Aldana via unanimous decision. The Peacemaker showed impressive power, dropping the Mexican in the first round.

Meanwhile, Lansberg, also known as the “Elbow Princess, fought Cyborg this past September. She lost out via second round TKO. However, the 35-year-old from Sweden followed up with an impressive unanimous decision win over Lucie Pudilova at UFC Fight Night 107 this past March.

A fight between the pair would certainly be an interesting one. Both women are known to be very durable, can take lots of punishment and have been part of some exciting wars.
