Lena Ovchynnikova returns to the cage at this Saturday’s Bellator 190 event

This Saturday’s Bellator 190 event will feature an exciting women’s flyweight fight on the main card when Lena Ovchynnikova returns to take on Mary Rouse Mejia.

Ovchynnikova is a former muay thai world champion.

Ovchynnikova (12-4-0) is riding high on a two-fight win streak, her latest victory being a TKO over Helen Harper. The 30-year-old fights out of Ukraine and currently trains at the Union Gym. She was a multiple time muay thai world champion before making the transition to MMA.

Ecuador’s Mejia (1-0) will be returning from an over six year layoff. She’ll be making her first Bellator MMA appearance, following a first-round submission win in her professional debut back in 2011.

Bellator 190 takes place this Saturday December 9 from the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy. The event will be aired on Spike TV.

  1. Lena Ovchynnikova is one active fighter. I know Bellator seems to want a matchup between Lena Ovchynnikova and Anastasia Yankova, but Lena Ovchynnikova seems to be more on a path to earning a Bellator Women’s Flyweight Title shot. So good luck to Lena Ovchynnikova because I don’t want to see Bellator shelving the Bellator Women’s Flyweight Title to set up Fun Fights. Lena Ovchynnikova looked great in her last two Bellator fights.
