Saturday night at King of the Cage Groundbreaking, Andy Nguyen defeated Bi Nguyen by way of unanimous decision to successfully defend her atomweight world title. The judges scored the bout 49-46 on all scorecards, in favour of Andy.
Andy Nguyen, also known as “The CrAsian”, improves her record to 5-3-0, successfully avenging one of her previous losses and defending her belt for a second time. Prior to tonight’s victory, she was coming off an impressive first round submission over Miyuu Yamamoto at this past December’s RIZIN event. The 35-year-old has made significant improvements to her MMA game since her early losses, and the fact she was able to successfully avenge a previous loss against an undefeated and highly touted opponent speaks volumes for how far she has come. It’s only a matter of time before the Karate Mafia standout enters the top-fifteen in the world rankings at atomweight.
Bi, also known as “KillHer Bee”, suffers the first loss of her professional career, putting her record at 3-1-0. She trains at Jackson-Wink MMA along with some of UFC’s biggest superstars including Jon Jones, Holly Holm and Michelle Waterson. She was coming off a split decision win over Jayme Hinshaw at King of the Cage New Blood this past February.
King of the Cage Groundbreaking took place from the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California, United States. The fight between Andy Nguyen and Bi Nguyen was aired live on King of the Cage’s Facebook Page.
