Kayla Harrison vs. Moriel Charneski at this Monday’s PFL 11 event.

Harrison (2-0) picked up a huge win in her last showing, taking out the then ranked number-one women’s lightweight fighter in the world, Jozette Cotton. The 28-year-old also became the first person in history to finish “The #1 Headbusta”. The Olympian was receiving a huge amount of hype even prior to her successful professional debut against Brittney Elkin this past June, thanks to her successful Judo career which saw her win the 2010 World Championships, gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and gold at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. Many are tipping Harrison for superstardom, much like fellow Olympic Medalist and former training partner, Ronda Rousey.

Charneski (3-4) picked up a big win in her lightweight debut in December 2017, defeating Sarah Patterson by way of a second-round verbal submission. The 29-year-old has finished all her professional MMA career victories, a combination of knockouts and submissions. “The Mo-Chine” now looks to earn the biggest win of her entire career by taking out a highly-touted contender in Harrison.

PFL 11 takes place this Monday December 31 from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, United States. The main card featuring Harrison vs. Charneski will be aired live on NBC Sports from 7pm EST.

  1. What a joke of a “fight. ” 4-3 Moriel’s most notable victory is over Sarah Patterson, who is on a 3 fight losing streak, including against Jozette Cotton, who Kayla destroyed. I can only imagine what kind of “tournament” PFL will be able to put together for Kayla. To make the tournament in the least bit interesting, they need to work with the different States’ Commissions to create an open division or a women’s heavyweight division or Kayla needs to drop to 145 and they make it a FW tournament. I think the latter is far more realistic. Of course, if Cris is allowed to participate, it no longer will be a shoe in for Kayla.

  2. The Professional Fighters League will probably pull Holli Salazar and Maura Tynanes from Alaska FC, bring back Brittney Elkin, bring in Bobbi Jo Dalziel, who is scheduled to fight Brittney Elkin, and if King Reina Miura isn’t locked up in a contract with DREAM or Rizin, maybe the PFL can entice her to join the PFL 2019 Regular season. And King Reina really needs to step up from the type of competition she has been beating and that would benefit her as well.
