Kayla Harrison vs. Jozette Cotton, lightweight bout | This Thursday, PFL 6 Main Card | 10pm ET, LIVE on NBC SPORTS

This Thursday’s Professional Fighters League 6 event features a highly anticipated women’s lightweight showdown on the main card when Kayla Harrison makes her second professional MMA appearance against the number-one women’s lightweight fighter in the world, Jozette “The #1 Headbusta” Cotton.

Kayla Harrison vs. Jozette Cotton at this Thursday’s PFL 6 event.

Harrison (1-0) looks to follow-up on a successful professional debut this past June, defeating Brittney Elkin by way of a first-round armbar submission. The 28-year-old was receiving a huge amount of hype even prior to her professional debut thanks to her successful Judo career which saw her win the 2010 World Championships, gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and gold at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. Many are tipping Harrison for superstardom, much like fellow Olympic Medalist and former training partner, Ronda Rousey. This Thursday will give Harrison the opportunity to establish herself as queen of the women’s lightweight division in just her second professional fight.

Cotton (8-1) has been dominating the scene at 155-pounds and above since 2012, finishing half her career victories by way of knockouts including two which came in the very first-round. In September of 2017, Cotton made history by defeating Sarah Patterson to claim the inaugural Dynasty Combat Sports women’s lightweight title. At Thursday’s event, the 30-year-old looks to prove her position as the number-one women’s 155-pound fighter in the world by taking out one of the most highly-touted prospects in the division’s history.

  1. Does anyone know of what has become of the former most highly-touted prospect in the division’s history? The undefeated Bobbi Jo Dalziel, who defeated Jozette back in 2016, has not fought since. There were talks of her fighting King Reina early this year but the latter’s team must have finally come to their senses and the fight never materialized. I have heard nothing on her since. Hopefully PFL brings her in to face the winner of this fight.

  3. Bobbi Jo is still training regularly but is slowly trying to make the cut to 45 after being unable to get a fight in almost 2 yrs.
No one seems very eager to get in there with her so it’s be a frustrating situation

    1. Thanks for the update, Tim. Like I said above, I hope the PFL brings her over to take on Kayla. I was surprised that she did not even try out for TUF. Any idea as to why not?

  4. We’re not sure if she can make 45 were just frustrated with the lack of fights even though at the moment there doesn’t seem to be a lot going on at 45 either.
We weren’t sure Bobbi could make 45 on a weekly basis like require in tuf and she’s kinda a private person.
She wanted a crack at that 55lb belt that was being fought for but right after Cotton moved to 45 and the belt changed weight classes with her? Haha
    Oh well
