Jozette Cotton, Sarah Patterson to fight for inaugural women’s lightweight world title on September 1

Dynasty Combat Sports is set to make history when it introduces a world title belt for the 155-pound lightweight division in September.

Jozette Cotton and Sarah Patterson are slated to fight for the inaugural women’s lightweight title on Sep. 1 in the co-main event of DCS 37.

Cotton (6-1) was dethroned from her number one position in the lightweight world rankings last October after dropping a unanimous decision to Bobbi-Jo Dalziel. Prior to the loss, she was on a six-fight win streak which included first-round stoppages over Elsha Cleffman and Nikita Netjes. ‘The #1 Headbusta’ currently the No. 3 ranked lightweight according to the WMMA world rankings.

Patterson (5-2), has been competing as a professional mixed martial artist since the year of 2002. She is riding high on a four-fight win streak which includes first round stoppages over Tamikka Brents, Erica Grover and Kate Bloomfield, as well as a second round knockout over Killastina Makihele. ‘Primal’ is currently the No. 1 ranked lightweight contender in the world.

‘DCS 37: September Fight Fest’ takes place on September 1 from the Centurylink Center in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The event will air live on FloCombat.

  1. Just curious, if Dalziel just beat #1 contender, Cotton, why isn’t Dalziel fighting Patterson for the title instead of Cotton?

  2. I was offered to fight Jozette and accepted. I’ve not yet had an offer to fight Bobbi Jo. I’m not sure why not. Maybe she’s not fighting right now.
