Jozette Cotton injured, forced out of tonight’s inaugural DCS featherweight title fight against Marissa Pender

Jozette “The #1 Headbusta” Cotton has suffered a knee injury and will no longer be competing for the inaugural featherweight title against Marissa Pender at tonight’s Dynasty Combat Sports event.

Cotton won the organization’s lightweight title this past September.

Cotton (8-1-0) took to her social media pages to release an official statement to fans.

Sorry to all my friends and family. Due to injury I had to pull out of my fight. I’ll be out for a while but not for good. Thanks to all my sponsors and supporters, your love and support will be transferred to my next fight. I love you guys, god bless you all and pray for my weak ass knees! Sad my night to shine is taken, I’ll only get stronger. Thank you all.” Cotton said.

The 29-year-old is the reigning Dynasty Combat Sports lightweight champion, having won the belt after beating Sarah Patterson this past September. She is currently the number-four ranked women’s 155-pound fighter in the world, behind Bobbi-Jo Dalziel, King Reina and Cindy Dandois.

WMMA Lightweight World Rankings

WMMA Rankings would like to wish Cotton a speedy recovery and look forward to her next fight, whether it’s at featherweight or lightweight.

  1. Dam, I was looking forward to seeing her make the Featherweight limit and seeing how she looked at that weight. And of course I was looking forward to seeing her bravado in the cage. I hope she heals up well.
