This Saturday’s ‘UFC on ESPN+ 1’ event features an exciting women’s flyweight fight on the preliminary card when Joanne Calderwood takes on promotional newcomer, Ariane Lipski.
Calderwood (12-3) makes her second UFC appearance as a flyweight following an impressive first-round submission win over Kalindra Faria at the UFC Fight Night 135 event last August. The 33-year-old, who previously competed for the organization as a strawweight, believes 125-pounds is where she can show her true capabilities as a fighter and looks to prove it once again on Saturday as she makes her case for a shot at the flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko.
Lipski (11-3) will be making her promotional debut following an impressive nine-fight win streak in which she successfully captured and defended the KSW flyweight title. The 24-year-old, also known as ‘The Violence Queen’, has finished seven of her last nine fights and looks to make a statement in her promotional debut against an established contender in Joanne Calderwood.
UFC on ESPN+ 1 takes place this Saturday January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United States. The preliminary card featuring Calderwood vs. Lipski will be aired live on ESPN from 8pm EST.
