First mentioned by Bartek Stachura (@Lowkingpl) via Twitter, an exciting flyweight battle between Joanne Calderwood and Ariane Lipski is rumored for UFC 233 on Jan. 26 in Anaheim, Calif.
The bout has yet to be made official by any parties involved and is based on speculation according to recent social media posts.
On Wednesday, Lipski told fans her next fight was “coming soon” and posted a picture holding a contract. The former KSW champion was scheduled to make her promotional debut this month versus Maryna Moroz, however, the bout was removed from the card when Moroz injured her foot.
On Thursday, Calderwood posted a “clue” about her next fight on Instagram. She listed different nationalities that she has faced in the past and said her next opponent will make it three times for a “certain country”.
A fight with Lipski would fulfill Calderwood’s clue. Looking back on Calderwood’s record, she has faced two Brazilians in MMA– Jessica Andrade at strawweight and Kalinda Faria at flyweight. Lipski, a Brazilian, would the third.
I sure hope this fight gets confirmed! Who will you be rooting for if it goes down?
