MMA Today (mma-today.com, @MMATodayNews) broke the news moments ago via Twitter that Joanne Calderwood has been pulled from her upcoming fight with Bec Rawlings due to undisclosed reasons. The two were scheduled to face off at UFC Fight Night Sydney on November 18. “Jessy” Jessica Rose-Clark will step in on short notice to replace Calderwood and face Bec Rawlings in a flyweight bout.
Rose-Clark (7-4) has fought for Invicta FC and Titan FC. She last fought in August under the Titan FC banner, winning a split-decision over Carina Damm. Before being picked up by the UFC, Rose-Clark was scheduled to face Vanessa Porto in a flyweight bout at Invicta FC 26 in December.
Bec Rawlings (7-6) enters the bout off of a two-fight losing skid. “Rowdy” Rawlings, who has struggled to make the strawweight limit in the past, is fighting at 125 pounds for the first time in nearly five years.
Both Rawlings and Rose-Clark will be competing on home soil come Fight Night in Sydney– Rawlings is from Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, and Rose-Clark hails from Strafford, Queensland, Australia.
As mentioned earlier, the reasons for Joanne Calderwood’s withdrawal are unknown at this time.
