Joanna Jedrzejczyk reveals upcoming bout vs. Michelle Waterson is a title eliminator: “It’s in the contract we have written”

Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has revealed that her upcoming against Michelle Waterson at the UFC on ESPN+ 19 event in October will be a title eliminator.

In a recent interview with Polish publication, Sportowe Fakty, Jedrzejczyk confirmed the contract she signed for her upcoming bout states the winner will get a UFC strawweight title shot.

In the contract we have written that the winner will get a fight for the belt. The fight for the title is closer than we think. After the victory with Michelle on October 12, I hope that in the first quarter of 2020 I will get a chance to return to the throne” she stated.

Can Joanna once again become UFC strawweight champion?

The UFC strawweight title changed hands at last Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 15 event when Weili Zhang knocked out Jessica Andrade in the very first-round to capture the belt.

Fight fans, how do you feel about Jedrzejczyk’s revelation? Who do you see winning the upcoming bout and how well do they match up against Weili Zhang? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. I’m of the thinking that all that really means in real terms is that if Joanna wins — which she should, frankly — that her next fight is a title fight. Not actually that she’ll be the next to fight for the title.

      1. I don’t either. Since they don’t seem to be able to line up a challenger for Weili, I wouldn’t mind them pulling JJ to take on Weili and Michelle face Nina.
