Jinh Yu Frey challenges Seo Hee Ham for atomweight title at ROAD FC 45 on December 23

Seo Hee Ham will attempt to make the first defense of her atomweight world title when she battles Jinh Yu Frey at the ROAD FC 45 event on December 23.

Ham (18-8-0) is the number-one ranked atomweight fighter in the world. She won the ROAD FC belt this past June, knocking out Mina Kurobe in the third-round. The 30-year-old, also known as ‘Hamderlei Silva’, previously competed at strawweight as part of the UFC, she picked up a notable victory over Cortney Casey, as well as battling Joanne Calderwood, Bec Rawlings and Danielle Taylor to hard-fought decisions. At 105-pounds, Ham believes she is the best in the world.

Frey (6-2-0) is the number-two ranked atomweight fighter in the world. The 32-year-old has won four of her last five, with the one loss coming to a woman who no longer competes in the division in Ayaka Hamasaki. As part of the prestigious Invicta FC organization, Frey has taken out the likes of Ashley Cummins, Herica Tiburcio and Liz McCarthy. December 23 will give Frey the opportunity to prove to the world that she is the best atomweight fighter on the planet.

  1. Excited to see this fight, although I wanted to see Frey rematch against Hamasaki first. Just don’t understand why Hamasaki’s position is so unclear. This article states Hamasaki no longer competes in the division, but just last week, MMA Junkie referred to her as “the Current atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki,” Invicta FC’s website still refers to her as the atomweight champion, and numerous ranking organizations rank Hamasaki #1 at 105. Can someone with some connections, such as Noah, simply call Shannon and get the lowdown?
