Jessica-Rose Clark believes Valentina Shevchenko is definitely the next UFC flyweight champion and she has her sights set on challenging her for the belt.
Clark (9-4-0, 1 NC) feels as though she is very close to earning a title shot of her own thanks to her 2-0 run with the UFC which includes victories over Bec Rawlings and Paige VanZant. The Australian hopes to challenge Shevchenko for the belt once she wins it.
“I think I’m one or two fights away. I think Shevchenko will fight for the title next and I would like to fight her for the title. However many [fights] I need to have between now and then that’s what I’m working towards 100%” Clark told Submission Radio.
“She is the next champion 100%, she’s very very good. She’s very skilled, she’s very experienced. I feel like her performance [at UFC Belem] was so amazing and so dominant because of who she was fighting. If they had given her someone with a bit more experience, a bit more experience on the international scene, it would have gone really differently. She still probably would have won but it would have been a much tougher fight and not such a dominant kind of bashing.” Clark continued.
