Jessica-Rose Clark on January’s Paige VanZant fight: “I’m every bit as confident as I was for my last fight, even more so”

UFC flyweight Jessica-Rose Clark made a successful promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 121 last month, picking up a split decision win over Bec Rawlings in the co-main event.

‘Jessy Jess’ says she’s “even more” confident, heading into second UFC fight, againt Paige VanZant.

Clark (8-4) has already been given her next opponent. She’ll be facing fan-favorite Paige VanZant (7-3) at the UFC Fight Night 121 event on January 14. The 30-year-old Australian says she is “even more” confident for this fight than her last bout.

I’m every bit as confident as I was for the last fight … even more so,” Clark told an Australian news outlet. “I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing. I think I’m very good at what I do and I don’t know what she presents as a fighter, but I always train to be adaptable.

Each fight I make sure that the things I’m good at, I’m even better at in the next one. My end goal is to show that I’m the best and I want to win the belt and defend it and I want to choose when I retire. I don’t ever want that to be chosen for me. I’m just got to keep going. I’m on this insane high right now, but I’ve got to get through this next fight and I don’t want to look too far ahead. I’m going to enjoy every little bit.”

  1. Rose got this. i know people that train with her and she is said to be very, very strong for her size. She’s fresh, confident, dedicated to MMA and nothing else. Paige has had injuries to her back, at least twice, and is very busy being Paige Van Zant(™) the brand, which can only distract, as we’ve seen with every other UFC teacher’s pet.
