UFC flyweight Jessica-Rose Clark is hoping to increase her popularity with fans with a victory at this Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 124 event.
Clark (8-4) will be taking on fan-favorite, Paige VanZant, a woman who is by far one of the most famous fighters on the roster and is a former Dancing With The Stars runner-up. 30-year-old Clark says she is “down to take some of that” fan following from VanZant.
“Every fight’s an opportunity for (to get more popular),” Clark told MMAjunkie. “She’s done really, really well for herself in the short time she’s been fighting. I’m down to take some of that.”
“It’s happening at the right speed,” Clark said. “Obviously quicker than I thought it was going too when I got out to Vegas (to train at Syndicate MMA), but now everything is working exactly how it needs too. I feel prepared, I feel excited. I’ve never been excited for fights before. Now I’m excited.”
The Australian believes she has the advantages in every area leading into the matchup against VanZant.
“I think I have advantages everywhere,” Clark said. “I’m comfortable wherever it goes. I never really focus on who I’m fighting. It’s all about what I need to do.”
UFC Fight Night 124 takes place this Sunday January 14 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The main card featuring VanZant vs. Clark will be aired live on Fox Sports 1 from 10pm ET.
