Jessica Andrade returns to competition at this Saturday’s UFC on FOX 28 event when she battles Tecia Torres in the co-main event. The winner of the fight will most likely be challenging the victor of the upcoming strawweight title rematch between Namajunas and Jedrzejczyk.
Andrade (17-6) believes Saturday’s fight will be one of her toughest to date, and is not thinking too far ahead due to the elite-level competitor that Torres is.
“For now, the main focus is just this fight,” Andrade said. “I know that a win puts me in line for another title shot. Now, I need to beat Tecia. She’s a very good opponent. She’s highly ranked. She’s one of the toughest opponents that I will face in the UFC, and I know that I’ve got to focus on her first before I can think of anything else.”
“It’s just an amazing phase that I’m going through, both physically and mentally,” Andrade said. “It’s probably the best that I’ve ever been for any fight. Overall, I can’t complain about anything that happened throughout this camp, and I’m in the best shape of my life. The head is clear, and I’m sure that we’re going put on a great show on Saturday.”
UFC on FOX 28 takes place this Saturday February 24 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, United States. The main card co-headlined by Torres vs. Andrade will be aired live on FOX from 9pm EST.
