Andrade (18-6-0) believes she is the clear next contender for the belt after beating Tecia Torres last month. The 26-year-old Brazilian is hoping Namajunas will retain the title in April.
“I’m really rooting for Namajunas to win. I think she’s an excellent athlete. She has a huge heart. She’s a true champion. She doesn’t underestimate her opponents. She always goes in it with a lot of will to win and humility. To me, she’s a true champ. So I’m really rooting for her to win this fight. I wouldn’t like Joanna to win.” Andrade said.
UFC 223 takes place on Saturday April 7 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United States. The main card featuring Namajunas vs. Jedrzejczyk 2 will be aired live on pay-per-view from 10pm EST.
